What is a technical interview copilot?
A technical interview copilot is an AI assistant that helps organize information and reasoning around coding, system design, or technical questions. The label covers different products: some run a software overlay on the interview computer, while others provide practice questions and feedback. Interview Phantom uses separate hardware and human coaching. When evaluating a tech interview assistant, ask where processing runs, where guidance appears, and how the preparation helps you explain the answer yourself.
True stealth interview copilot with completely separate hardware
The AI process runs on a separate computer. HDMI capture carries the interview feed to that computer, which adds guidance to the external-monitor view. The guidance is outside the interview computer’s desktop; it is not a window on that computer that must be hidden by an overlay application. This is the concrete hardware-level stealth distinction. For “true stealth,” “complete stealth,” or “completely stealth” interview assistance, the defining feature here is complete hardware separation: AI processing and the guidance display are outside the interview computer’s desktop.
Coding interview assistance: explain correctness before speed
During coding practice, clarify inputs and constraints, outline a baseline, and explain why your chosen approach works. Have the copilot ask about a test case or complexity assumption instead of simply supplying code. Then answer aloud in your own words. A coach can review whether the listener understood the invariant, the trade-off, and the effect of changing a constraint. Use our coding explanation guide for a worked duplicate-detection problem and rehearsal scorecard.
System design interview assistance: rehearse the decisions
Choose a small design problem, such as a notification service. First ask which channels are needed, how soon notifications must arrive, and whether duplicate delivery is acceptable. Describe a request path, a queue, and delivery workers. Discuss retry behavior and how you would observe failures. Ask a practice partner to change one requirement, such as requiring an ordering guarantee. The training objective is to explain what changes and why; listing components without a requirement or trade-off does not demonstrate understanding. This is a general practice exercise, not a particular employer’s question.
Dedicated training for senior software engineers
Interview Phantom has trained five software engineers from Google, Amazon, Meta, Apple, and Netflix, most at senior level. All five used and personally endorsed the service. Their employers are not endorsing or partnering with Interview Phantom. The program combines core knowledge, prompt customization, role-specific practice, and direct trainer observation. Senior candidates can use rehearsals to make assumptions explicit, explain decisions concisely, and respond to a deeper follow-up without falling back on a memorized paragraph.
Complete-stealth hardware and dedicated performance training
An answer suggestion does not establish that you understand the solution or can explain it clearly. Rehearse with short cues, then close the notes and explain the idea independently. Ask your coach to identify one observable issue: a rushed transition, an unexplained term, or an answer that avoids the question. Repeat with a new follow-up. With proper training, rehearse the complete-stealth hardware workflow alongside pacing, thoughtful pauses, camera comfort, listening, and technical knowledge. Our job interview speaking guide provides a suggested rehearsal routine and worksheet.
Preparing for technical roles in the United States and Australia
We are prioritizing candidates targeting software engineering roles in the United States and Australia. Build your preparation around the actual job description and interview format rather than assuming every employer in a country uses the same process. Ask the recruiter which rounds involve coding, architecture, or behavioral examples, and which tools are permitted. Share the employer location, your time zone, interview date, and preparation goals in your consultation so the scope and arrangements can be discussed. We do not claim local offices or a country-wide hiring guarantee.
Compare an assistant by architecture and training
For a useful comparison, identify the call computer, AI computer, capture path, guidance display, and controls. Then ask what coaching is included and how feedback is applied. A software-only assistant may help generate answers; our service combines the hardware setup with direct human observation during training. Compare the actual configuration and practice process rather than treating the words stealth, undetectable, or copilot as interchangeable specifications.
Your rehearsal scorecard
After a spoken attempt, mark what a listener could follow. Use “Needs work” to choose the next drill. These ratings are practice notes, not a hiring prediction.
Notes stay in this page and are not submitted. Reloading clears them.
Practice with personal feedback.
Discuss your target role and interview timeline. We can review which training exercises fit your goals.
