Where the private content enters the system
A software copilot running on the interview computer typically renders a window on that computer. Capture protection asks the operating system to exclude that window from supported capture paths. A separate-hardware architecture can instead generate and display assistance outside that computer's desktop. The important difference is the location of the content, not the word stealth.
OS-level is not synonymous with separate hardware. A native window flag is still part of a software mechanism on the same machine. Microsoft documents the scope and limitations of its display-affinity API; a low-level API does not create a universal privacy guarantee. [1]
Compare the same observations
For desktop sharing, ask whether private content exists in the shared computer's desktop and which capture paths are covered. For device inspection, ask what software, drivers, permissions, and connected devices remain on that computer. For physical observation, ask what a camera or person can see. One successful screen-share demonstration cannot answer all three questions.
A hardware system can have its own software, network connections, and data storage. If components reconnect to the interview computer or a downstream display is recorded, the claimed boundary may differ. Require a description of the actual product configuration; do not assume every product sold as hardware isolated has the same architecture.
What Interview Phantom's distinction means
Interview Phantom describes assistance on separate hardware and offers configuration and coaching. The defensible benefit is separation from the interview computer's software environment when the implementation maintains that boundary. This article is architectural analysis, not an independent laboratory certification of the product.
Neither hardware nor software can promise that another person will never infer assistance. Room cameras, visible equipment, and the interview's rules remain relevant. Choose a permitted arrangement with a clear scope, and evaluate the product against that scope before buying.
