Hidden content can still leave the device
A copilot may hide its window while sending audio, screenshots, a resume, or prompts to a service. Screen-share privacy and data privacy answer different questions. If you are worried about discovery or exposure of personal information, evaluate both before uploading sensitive material.
Window content protection addresses certain capture operations. Microsoft's API documentation does not establish anything about a vendor's cloud processing, retention, or training practices. Those require separate evidence from the vendor's privacy policy and configuration. [1]
Ask where each piece of data goes
Identify the device receiving audio, the component generating answers, any external model provider, and where session history is stored. Ask how long recordings and transcripts remain, whether deletion covers backups, and what support staff can access. If the policy is vague, request a concrete answer rather than assuming a stealth claim includes confidentiality.
Hardware separation can move processing away from the interview computer, but it does not automatically make processing local or offline. A second computer may still use cloud services. A hardware diagram and a data-flow explanation should agree about these paths.
A calmer way to choose
Choose according to a defined requirement: keeping private material out of a permitted screen share, reducing software installed on a particular computer, or limiting transmission to external services. Different requirements may lead to different choices. Broad fear-based promises make comparison harder when they omit the observer or data path.
Interview Phantom's separate-hardware approach should be evaluated against its actual configuration and privacy policy. Ask about setup and training, then check that the arrangement fits the interview's permitted-assistance rules. Hardware separation is a meaningful architectural option; absolute undetectability remains an unsupported guarantee.
