A new starting point

On January 10, 2024, OpenAI launched the GPT Store, a directory of custom versions of ChatGPT. The initial rollout covered Plus, Team, and Enterprise users. It offered a way to discover specialized assistants without building one from scratch. [1]

For someone preparing for an interview, the interesting change was discovery. A focused assistant could be easier to start with than an empty chat box. That did not establish that any particular assistant was qualified to assess a candidate or predict an employer’s decision.

Give your practice partner a job

Our coaching takeaway is to define the exercise before choosing the tool. Ask for one question at a time, a follow-up tied to your answer, and feedback on evidence rather than general encouragement. Provide the target role and a short, factual summary of your experience.

Keep a record of the questions that expose gaps. A session that reveals one weak example is more useful than a polished answer you cannot explain. The goal is a reusable way to practice, with a human review when the advice needs context.

Measure the next attempt

Compare two spoken attempts at the same question. Did the second identify your own contribution more clearly? Did it include an outcome you can support? Those observations are more actionable than an unexplained numerical score. Treat this as practice design, not evidence that a store listing improves hiring outcomes.
