The development
Google introduced Gemini Live in August 2024 as a conversational voice experience. The initial rollout began in English for Gemini Advanced subscribers on Android. Google described hands-free conversations and the ability to interrupt or return to a discussion. [1]
Let the question change
For interview preparation, the useful implication is conversational flexibility. A real interviewer may interrupt an example to ask about a particular decision. Our suggested exercise is to practice responding to that narrower question, then decide whether the rest of your original story is still needed. Do not treat every interruption as a signal to start your answer again.
Brief your practice partner to ask follow-ups about your own contribution and the evidence for your result. Leave a short pause before answering so you can identify what was actually asked. Afterwards, review where you answered the question directly and where you returned to a memorized route. This is a training method inspired by the interface, not a claim that Gemini Live was built or validated as a hiring assessment tool.
