The development
OpenAI’s December 13, 2024 education newsletter highlighted Advanced Voice Mode with video among that week’s releases. It described educational demonstrations where a conversation could refer to visible material. Those examples concerned learning, rather than validated interview assessment. [1]
Explain what the listener needs to see
Our interview application is visual explanation practice. If you expect to discuss a diagram, portfolio, or system design, rehearse how you introduce it before diving into details. Name the purpose, orient the listener, then point out the one relationship that supports your argument. A shared visual should reduce explanation effort, not become a substitute for a clear opening.
Use a nonconfidential diagram or a simplified sketch for rehearsal. Ask a practice partner what remains unclear after your explanation. Then try the same explanation without the visual to identify where you relied on pointing rather than words. These are different skills, and both can be useful. Video capability may create an opportunity to practice them, but availability and feedback quality should be checked separately from the announcement.
