Stay with the point you cannot explain
Our coaching takeaway is to let a follow-up expose the next learning task. If you cannot explain why an approach works, another polished model answer will not necessarily help. Ask for a small example or a question that tests the missing concept. Answer it yourself before proceeding to the more complex problem.
This method is useful beyond coding. A behavioral story may contain a vague claim about leadership or impact. Ask what evidence would make the claim concrete, then find that evidence in your own experience. Keep the session interactive and stop when you can explain the point simply. The success criterion is your ability to reason through a fresh variation, rather than recognizing an answer that appeared in the chat. A human partner can check whether the explanation transfers to an ordinary conversation.
