The development

OpenAI introduced GPT-5.4 on March 5, 2026, with an emphasis on professional work, coding, and reasoning. It brought capabilities across ChatGPT, the API, and Codex. These product claims concerned the model’s work, not an individual’s understanding of its output. [1]

Describe your judgment as well as the artifact

Our interview lesson is to explain what you contributed when AI assisted a work sample. Identify the problem you framed, the constraints you supplied, and the checks you performed. If you changed an output, explain why. That account is more informative than either claiming the whole artifact was manually produced or saying the tool did everything.

Rehearse a walkthrough that includes one flaw you discovered and how you verified the correction. Use a sample you are allowed to discuss and keep its provenance accurate. If a particular assessment sets rules about tool use, prepare within those rules. The purpose of the exercise is to make your judgment visible. A more capable model can produce a better starting point, but the evidence of your skill lies in the decisions you can explain and the results you can substantiate.
